With winter gone and the long hot summer days approaching, it’s easy to forget just how cold our houses can get in the dark days of winter. Summertime is the very best time to have maintenance work carried out on your boiler and heating system. Not only does it mean you can have the plumbing work done without fear of freezing but it also means you can make sure any issues are picked up and addressed before you need to turn the heating on for the winter!
Whether it’s your annual boiler service, the installation of new radiators or that all-important power flush now is the time to act. A power flush, you say? Why on earth would I need one of those? I have a service done annually, and it’s always been enough!
Well, your central heating system works in basic terms by pumping water around the pipes to each radiator then back through the boiler to start its journey again. Every heating system should have an ‘inhibitor’ added to the water which reduced the risk of sludge building up, however, this is not always the case, and it may have been some time since this was added to your system.
The sludge I describe is just that, it is a build-up of iron oxide which has built up inside your radiators and pipework and this combined with limescale, especially in hard water areas builds up. You could compare this to your vascular system if your arteries become blocked over time, it can cause a stroke or heart attack, the difference being it will be your boiler which will inevitably break down. How do we know there is a blockage? We have thermal heat sense cameras that will detect any blocks so we can show you exactly where they are and how big they are.
You will be glad to know we have the very best tools in the business to combat this problem! Our market-leading power flushing system will combat a multitude of problems. From cold spots on your radiators to a noisy boiler, these can all be problems associated with blockages in your heating system. With our flushing system, we can put a high flow of water through your heating circuit along with chemicals to break down the sludge. We also have a large magnet that catches the iron oxide particles on their way out so you can see how much has built up over time. It truly is a very satisfying experience, a little like seeing the muck in the carpet washer when you wash your carpets or possibly squeezing spots if that’s your thing!
Now all of this is fantastic of course, but it doesn’t entirely solve the problem on its own because, inevitably, the sludge will return and you will be back at square one. Fret not; we have a solution for that too. A Magna clean is a magnet, a smaller version of what we have with our power flushing equipment. This piece of equipment is fitted to your system to collect the iron oxide particles on their way around your central heating trapping the pesky things so they won’t get back into your boiler to cause the problems you might be experiencing today. This equipment will be emptied and cleaned annually during your boiler service, limiting the need for another power flush any time soon.
If you are experiencing any problems with your heating system, finding it increasingly significant or would like the peace of mind knowing it has been thoroughly checked, cleaned, and will be ready for you when you need it working at its best, contact us now for more information and a quote.
